We have been working at 62 Panchayat villages in Thanjavur block and 48 Village Panchayats Village Panchayats in Thiruvaiyaru Block in Thanjavur District, 21 Village Panchayats in Thirumanur block and 19 Village Panchayats in Ariyalur Block in Ariyalur District in the State of Tamil Nadu in India.
WOMEN EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT SOCIAL SERVICE TRUST is an organization survives for women and children since 2002 at grass root level. This organization is working for community development and for oppressed people empowerment. This organization is creating the forum for particularly young women leadership in rural areas. So this is the main reason to capacitate those women for their internal empowerment with our legal system. This quarantine period is completely falling down the women’s potential on their empowerment process. This project will provide the better opportunity to those women to develop themselves.

The main approach is field based community development through young women leadership group. Through provide capacity building of young women provide awareness to legal system and provide gender equality awareness to get sustainable result.
People were threatening by COVID revenge and they faced lot of poor socio economic backwards in villages of applied organization. Corona affected families were felt that they were from social inclusion. People are labeled, stereotype, discriminated against, treated separately, experience loss of status because of perceived link with corona. COVID 19 treatment negatively affected those with the disease, as well as their care givers, family, friends and communities. This lockdown time leads to vulnerable people are more exposed to abuse and it is hard for them to seek help. The UN has described the worldwide increase in domestic violence as a “Shadow pandemic” alongside COVID – 19. This also reflex in working district of applied organization. This lock down is trapped the abuser in home with survivors, it leads to increase the domestic violence in every home. Social movements of women were increased generally with impact of gender equality project of ADECOM Network. This quarantine period totally changed that situation and set their mind back to the patriarchal society. Entrepreneurship ideas and initiatives are restricted, this gives negative impact of women and young girls decision making empowerment. They are frustration on their development activities. Manufacturing industries are the negative impact of the pandemic on business operation. Women and girls were goes to those industries to become as working women. Now such industries are closed and run with very limited staffs. So they are affected with their economic independence and frighten to enjoy their rights. Immediate relief measures need to be implemented in working village. With fears of a new recession and financial collapse totally changed the socio economic status of women and entire family. This project is will give complete solution to decrease violence against women and children in the sustainable way.
The applied organization was able to respond for COVID – 19 reliefs for 200 families with help of Literacy India trust, Human Rights Advocacy, Human Rights Foundation, and ADECOM Network. Provided everyday grocery needs to women particularly for single women, poverty and oppressed women in working region of applied organization.
Even though it responds for relief, the applied organization is affected to get fund for regular projects due to lockdown. Local funding also demands at the time of lockdown due to stigma of COVID threat.
The key areas of challenge are not able to help for women at risk on domestic violence. Due to immobility faced many difficulties to help for provide counseling and referral service for their problem. Likewise challenge faced with young girls for unable to work for their empowerment process.
